Magic Lands Alliance provides the overarching vision and collaborative framework for projects that bring First Nations, regional and city communities together through Culture, education, storytelling, infrastructure and shared experiences.
MLA works with Traditional Owners, First Nations communities and project partners to create practical pathways for reconciliation, understanding and lasting cultural and community outcomes.

For MLA, reconciliation extends beyond acknowledgement. We seek to create practical pathways for First Nations, regional and city communities to work together through Culture, truth-telling, education, shared experiences and projects that create lasting outcomes.
OUR PRINCIPLES
Truth-Telling
Historical storytelling should engage honestly with the complexity of the past. MLA supports research-led storytelling that brings together First Nations knowledge, oral histories, historical records, academic research and multiple perspectives.
Cultural Authority
First Nations stories, knowledge and cultural material require appropriate cultural guidance. MLA works with Traditional Owners, Elders, cultural advisers, knowledge holders and community members to support culturally informed development and decision-making.
Collaboration
Meaningful outcomes are built through relationships. MLA brings together First Nations communities, filmmakers, researchers, educators, regional communities, landholders, organisations and project partners around shared opportunities.
Knowledge & Education
Research developed through storytelling can have value far beyond a single production. MLA seeks to transform research, cultural knowledge and historical investigation into educational resources and learning experiences that can continue beyond the screen.
Intellectual Property & Cultural Knowledge
MLA distinguishes between commercial creative intellectual property and First Nations cultural knowledge, stories and cultural material. Appropriate permissions, attribution, cultural protocols and agreed usage arrangements are considered wherever culturally specific knowledge or material is incorporated into a project.
Governance Structure
MLA operates through a governance and project structure designed to support cultural collaboration, community outcomes, education, creative development and screen production, while maintaining appropriate separation between community initiatives, intellectual property, project finance and production activities.
Each entity has a distinct role within the broader Alliance model, providing transparency, accountability and appropriate governance across cultural, community and commercial activities.

A proposed not-for-profit structure, with appropriate charitable and DGR status to be pursued, supporting eligible cultural, educational, community and infrastructure initiatives.
Operating through a transparent project-by-project model, funding is allocated to clearly defined budgets and outcomes, separate from commercial screen production and investment.
